Young Guns @ Manchester Deaf Institute 08/02/2012

Young Guns are always being pinned as the next big thing and they have been for the past two years. They’re slowly going from 100 capacity venues to 3500, supporting the likes of All Time Low & in the next few weeks Enter Shikari. On this tour they decided to go back to where they started, playing the smaller venues on the ‘Bare Bones Club Tour’.

Tonight’s support came from Southern Hardcore band Polar and Tonight Alive, a watered down version of Paramore from Sydney, Australia.

First on were Polar who were unable to get any positive reaction from the crowd, their entire set was watched by a completely still crowd. However, Tonight Alive managed to get the crowd moving, mainly due to their cover of Mumford & Sons ‘Little Lion Man’.

Opening with recent single ‘Bones’ the crowd were instantly motivated and within seconds were jumping up & down and creating pits in the tiny 200 capacity venue. Considering its release only 2 days before, the crowd still managed to sing or maybe it should be shout along to all the new songs that were played off the new record tonight.

Even with the Drummer Ben and Guitarist Fraser completely messing up in ‘Crystal Clear’ and ‘Weight of The World’; Young Guns still managed to put on a good show.

It’s fair to say that, without it being a cliché, that this really could be Young Guns year. For a band who claims to be small, they managed to sell out an entire club tour here & in Europe and make it into the top 20 of the UK charts, all under 4 months.
